How Do Online Vendors and Services Ensure Transactions are Secure
If you are like me and frequently spend money online, your number one concern should be how safe that website is. Today’s most trusted online business owners who sell products, services, and/or content employ various cybersecurity measures to protect your transactions and other sensitive data.
For example, online banks, eCommerce sites, and online gaming websites where you can spend money are now safer than ever because of the top-notch security on those websites.
On this page, I will be revealing some of the main security features that website operators use to ensure your transactions or personal information are never hijacked by cybercriminals.
How do online business owners that sell products, services, or content protect payments on their websites?
To ensure your transactions are securely protected on a website from cyber criminals, my research has taught me that the safest and most legitimate sites employ several of the following highly advanced cyber security measures to keep your data and money safe at all times:
- 128-bit or higher Secure Socket Layer (SSL) cryptographic encryption and/or TLS (Transport Layer Security) – always look for the SSL certificates on a website to ensure you are on a safe site
- Firewalls are used to protect their websites from various digital threats, such as DDoS attacks (Distributed Denial-of-Service)
- Trusted operators will only accept secure, well-known online payment processing gateways to facilitate transactions on that site, such as Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple Pay, Trustly, and countless others
- Various other digital security measures are used to keep online accounts and transactions safe, such as 2FA and MFA (Two-Factor and Multi-Factor Authentication), and some sites also now use highly encrypted blockchain networks/technology, as well as hashing and tokenization
- Reputable websites (e.g., eCommerce, iGaming, personal finance, etc.) use AI-powered anti-fraud and data protection systems and tools to monitor, detect, prevent, and report malicious/suspicious cyber threats
- Trusted sites will be frequently audited by internationally accredited, independent (third-party) non-profit organizations
- Device fingerprinting is often to prevent specific fraudulent activities
These technologies keep users safe and secure 24/7, 365 days per year, to ensure your money and your PII (personally identifiable information) never fall into the wrong hands. Knowing this gives me confidence that I am in safe hands on my favourite sites.
Is it safe to deposit and withdraw on licensed and regulated iGaming sites, like those currently featured on Johnslots?
Yes. I’ve signed up to over ten top-rated brands currently featured on the official Johnslots website and never encountered any issues. Deposits are typically processed instantly, and withdrawals never usually take any longer than two or three hours to be processed.
All of their highest-rated online sports betting casino sites accept a range of tried and tested online payment options, and some of my favourites that I prefer using more than any others are my Visa debit card, Trustly bank transfers, or my Neteller, Skrill or PayPal eWallets.
Each of their featured sites uses most of the cybersecurity measures mentioned above to keep fully registered members’ accounts protected at all times. They are controlled by some of the industry’s most trusted names, and they are all fully licensed and regulated by one or more top-tier gaming commissions/licensing authorities.
In short, I’ve found there is no safer place to play. For me, it’s all about security and my money being in safe hands, and all of their recommendations I have joined over the past few years guarantee this.
They comply with AML (Anti-Money Laundering) policies, run honest and legitimate day-to-day operations, and have excellent data privacy and protection policies in place.
Even if the cybercriminals do manage to intercept a transaction, there’s no way they could decrypt it because of the end-to-end cryptographic encryption between the payment gateway, shopping cart, and cashier/banking section/virtual checkout on the site you are trying to deposit or withdraw from.
These safety measures don’t just prevent your money from being stolen. They also prevent other fraudulent activities from taking place, such as identity theft. This is why you should only ever sign up to legally permitted websites and only purchase things from trusted online merchants and avoid unlicensed/unregulated and untrustworthy sites.
Final thoughts
Whenever you visit a new website to play games in the real money mode or make a website/in-app purchase of content, products or services, you should always stop to think if that site is safe or not.
I’ve always found that carrying out a few basic checks can help you avoid disappointment. For example, in the URL address bar, always make sure the website address starts with https://.
If something doesn’t seem right, steer clear of that website and look for another one that offers the same or similar things that you are looking to purchase.
I would also suggest running the domain URL through a website safety check to ensure the website is legitimate and try to discover more about the cybersecurity on that website by clicking or tapping on the padlock icon (or similar icon near the address bar) because this will tell you more about what that operator of that website does to protect its users.
