Newsletter Plugin v3.9.9
To all our loyal WordPress Newsletter plugin users – and those of you that are not yet Newsletter plugin users – we bring you really good news today: Prepare to be WOWed!
The long-awaited, leaner, faster, more secure version of our Newsletter plugin, version 3.9.9, has just been released! Sporting more than 100 new features, improvements and fixes, if there’s ever a release worth renewing your plugin download subscription for – this is it. 🙂
New Feature Highlights
New features alone number a staggering 22, including the following more prominent ones:
Contact Form 7 Integration
Contact Form 7 Subscribers is a free extension for the Newsletter plugin that allows a visitor leaving a message via your Contact Form 7 powered contact form to subscribe to one or more of your mailing lists. This is done via a checkbox in the contact form that can be either unchecked or checked by default.
DKIM Signatures for Outgoing Emails
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) lets an organization take responsibility for a message that is in transit. Their reputation is the basis for evaluating whether to trust the message for further handling, such as delivery. DKIM signing provides a method for validating a domain name identity that is associated with a message through cryptographic authentication. In short – improved deliverability.
Live Preview while Creating Newsletters
The “Preview” pane gives a dynamically updating preview of what the newsletter will look like when sent. The preview includes both the selected theme and parsed shortcodes. An “Update Preview” button is included for convenience, but the preview is nevertheless dynamically updated from time to time while the newsletter is being added/edited.
Editable Templates for Posts
The email templates are used when adding a post or multiple posts to the newsletter, and they determine the look and feel of the post(s). Any of the normal shortcodes can be used in the subject or message of a template, and a template is inserted into the selected newsletter theme using the shortcode [wpmlcontent].
Detailed Bounces/Unsubscribes/Clicks Per Newsletter
Bounce and unsubscribe statistics is now available for each sent newsletter and can be seen in the list under Newsletters > Sent & Draft Emails, when viewing an individual sent email, or on the Overview page in the “Statistics Overview” graph and “Recent Emails” widget.
WordPress Dashboard Widget with Stats
This is a very handy widget for the WordPress admin dashboard that displays the status of things happening in the Newsletter plugin at a glance, showing unsubscribes, subscribers, bounced emails and emails sent in an easy to read graph and list format, along with the latest four emails/newsletters sent.
Automatic Links with Clicks Tracking Statistics
In previous versions of the Newsletter plugin the tracking of links/clicks could only be done using the Bitly API (https://bitly.com) under Newsletters > Configuration > General > Sending Settings. While that feature remains for those already using it or would prefer to use it, Links/clicks tracking is now built into the plugin. It’s activated under Newsletters > Configuration > General > General Mail Settings (“Click Tracking”). Statistics can be seen under Newsletters > Links & Clicks, and per newsletter under Newsletters > Overview and Newsletters > Sent & Draft Emails.
Please Note:
The widgets API has changed in this latest release of the Newsletter plugin, so all sidebar widgets (subscription forms) need to be re-created on your website.

I’m a devoted hubby and father, and a WordPress convert (read: nut) of several years now. I love anything to do with plugins, themes and website creation. Working at Tribulant Software marries my love of WordPress with my sense of responsibility towards my family, and that makes me one very happy camper.
I live in Centurion, South Africa, although I spent seven years in Russia and wouldn’t exchange the experience for anything. My wife is Ukrainian, we speak Russian and our little girl is growing up tri-lingual (Afrikaans, English and Russian).
