Activation
Once you have installed the Total MS Contol extension via FTP you need to activate it.
To activate it you need to go to the normal Plugins > Installed Plugins section via your admin sidebar in your WordPress Multisite’s main dashboard (where you installed the plugin). There you will see the extension as a plugin listed amongst other plugins. Refer to the screenshots below.
Before Activation
After Activation
Once activated under Plugins > Installed Plugins in the WordPress Multisite network’s main admin dashboard, the “Newsletters MS” menu item will appear in the left column:
Usage
Using the Total MS Control extension plugin, the network administrator can now exercise complete network-wide control over activation and limitation of the Newsletter plugin. Simply click on the “Newsletters MS” menu item in the sidebar of the “Network Admin” WordPress dashboard to open the following page:
1. Newsletters MS Menu Item
Once the Total MS Control extension plugin is installed and network activated, this menu will appear in the WordPress dashboard sidebar of the main site (“Network Admin”) of the WordPress Multisite network. Clicking on this menu item opens the Total MS Control settings page as in the image above.
2. Global Serial Key
You can now enter the activation key obtained for your WordPress Newsletter plugin into the appropriate area at the top of the page and save it for all sites in your network, instead of having to enter and submit it for each one individually. Once saved here, the serial key will be valid for and enable each of the sites in the network.
3. Bulk actions
- Activate
Activates the Newsletter plugin for selected sites in the network where it was deactivated previously (at first the Newsletter plugin is activated for all sites in the network globally when the Total MS Control extension plugin is activated, but it can be deactivated for selected sites).
- Deactivate
Deactivates the Newsletter plugin for selected sites in the network.
- Serial Key
Instead of submitting a global serial key to activate the Newsletter plugin for all sites in the network, the network administrator can submit a serial key to activate the Newsletter plugin for one or more selected sites in the network.
4. Status
This indicates the Active or Inactive status of the Newsletter plugin for the specific site in the network.
5. Serial Key
If the Newsletter plugin had been unlocked for all sites in the network via a global serial key, then this column will simply indicate “N/A.”
However, if a serial key is (or serial keys are) entered to unlock the Newsletter plugin for individually selected sites via the Bulk Actions, the actual serial key will be displayed in this column.
6. Limits
This column shows the cumulative usage of the limits applied to the Newsletter plugin for each individual site in the network. These settings are configured in the Total MS Control extension plugin, as illustrated further down on this page.
7. Row Action Links
These are hidden links that appear when the mouse cursor is hovered over a specific row, and they apply to the specific site only.
- Settings
Opens the “Blog Settings” page. This is where limitations are set for the Newsletter plugin as applicable for the specific site in the Multisite network (more about this in “8. Blog Settings” below).
- Deactivate
Activates or deactivates the Newsletter plugin for the specific site.
- Dashboard
A handy link to visit the WordPress dashboard of the specific site.
8. Blog Settings
- Serial Key
If a serial key was submitted for this site individually, this is where it would be shown. In this example it shows N/A, which means that either a global serial key had been submitted for all sites in the network, or a serial key has yet to be applied for this site.
- Max Subscribers
The maximum number of subscribers allowed for all mailing lists on the specific site.
- Max Mailing Lists
The maximum number of mailing lists allowed for the Newsletter Plugin as it applies to this site.
- Max Emails
The maximum allowed number of emails that can be sent in a specific date range or over the lifetime of the site, for this specific site.
9. Newsletter Plugin Messages and Widget
Warning messages at the top of the page appear to tell the administrator that limits have been reached, while a dashboard widget to the right of the graph shows the limit usage progress throughout.
