Shopping Cart plugin: UPS Shipping Method

You can ship your products to your customers using UPS as a shipping method/API. UPS is one of the most popular shipping methods and is known world-wide. In order to set up your shop using UPS you will need to follow the instructions below.

Sign Up for a UPS Account

Firstly, you’ll need to set up a UPS account on their site here you must click the “Register” to begin setting up the account. This can be seen in the image below.

Go through the whole process of registering and logging-in and so on (follow the steps seen the in the above screenshot). Please note that step 3 and 4 can be ignored. The “Ratings” API has already been installed into the plugin. After login, you can skip to step 5 which is “Request an access key“. Click the link, you’ll be redirected to a page where it shows your primary account info, allows you to submit secondary info, and if you haven’t registered yet, has links for you to register. You need to make sure that you have a UPS account and not just a UPS profile. At the bottom right of the page you’ll see a blue button to “Request Access Key” click that button once you have an account to get an access key.

Take note of the key as you will need it to configure the plugin.

Setting up UPS in WordPress

Once you have obtained your Access Key from UPS, you must go into the Shopping Cart plugin via your admin panel. Go to Checkout > Shipping Methods and click the “Add New” button at the top of the “Manage Shipping Methods” screen.

Leave the fields until you get to API selection, choose UPS and complete the fields that follow. See in the screenshot below.

Account Information

As seen above, you need to provide your UPS Access key, User ID and Password, then you need to configure the rest of the fields according to your needs from the API.

Negotiated Rates

Turn On/Off account specific UPS rates assigned. To enable negotiated rates, a UPS account number is required above and you need to enable negotiated rates.

Pickup Type

Select your pickup type. Select between Daily pickup, Customer counter, One time pickup, One call pickup, One call air, Suggested retail rates, Letter center, Air service center.

Weight Type

Select between KG and LBS. Use KGS if your products are in CM and LBS if your products are in IN.

Available Services

Choose the services that you want to allow customers to select from. You need these services activated on your UPS account.

Origin Adress

Enter your origin State/Postal Code and Country.

When you’re done, click “Save Shipping Method” and that should be you sorted and  ready to use UPS as a Shipping Method on your site.
