Checkout Configuration: Calculations
WordPress Shopping Cart plugin
1. Calculate Tax
This is set to “No” by default. This option turns on Global Tax calculation, meaning that when turned on, tax will be calculated and added to the order total.
2. Tax Name
This is set to VAT by default. This is the descriptive title for this field and may be changed to any word/abbreviation eg. TAX, VAT, GST, IVA. This will only display as an option if Calculate Tax is turned on.
3. Tax Percentage
This is set to 14% by default. Remember this is a percentage of the total invoice and not a fixed amount it is the percent value to be added as tax to the total value of order. This will only display as an option ifCalculate Tax is turned on.
4. Product Price Display
This determines whether or not the prices of products are shown inclusive or exclusive of the tax amount configured here. Depending on the option selected, a little (incl. TAX) or (excl. TAX) is shown next to the product prices.
5. Include Shipping
This is set to “No” by default. If you wish for the shipping cost to be included in the total that has tax calculated on it, then set this to “Yes“. In most cases this will remain as “No” as tax is calculated on product prices, shipping is separate.
6. Addtional Tax Rates
These are exceptions from the global tax rate set above. Simply specify the tax amount in % then choose the country and region that recieves that amount of tax. Note that not all countries have a configurable region to select from, in which case “All States/Provinces” is defaulted when the tax rate is saved.
7. Add Tax Rate
Click the Add Tax Rate button to insert a new exception. This can be done unlimited times. This button needs to be clicked in order to save the previous tax amount you created. You will see a yellow box stating “Tax rate has been saved“
1. Calculate Shipping
This is set to “No” by default. If this option is set to “Yes” the plugin navigates the customer through the shipping step so that a delivery cost can be calculated and chosen accordingly. The shipping step is only seen if there is at least one tangible item in the cart at the time of checkout. NOTE: Ensure that ‘Capture Shipping Details‘ is turned on under ‘User Related Settings‘ for shipping to work.
2. Weight Measurement
This is a drop down list. You can select – lb (Pound), oz (Ounce), kg (Kilogram) or g (Gram). This is the global weight measurement for all products on the site.
3. Minimum Weight
The required weight on all orders in order for customers to proceed.
4. Global Minimum Shipping
This will apply to the shipping total which will be applied automatically if calculated shipping total is less than specified here.
5. Shipping Methods Display
Here you can choose whether you you would like your shipping methods do be displayed in a “dropdown menu” or as “radio buttons” (which ever fits your needs the best). If you have many shipping methods then a drop-down is probably the better option.
6. One Shipping Method per Zipcode
If you have more than one shipping method with specified / wildcard zipcodes and you only want to display one shipping method per zipcode, select this checkbox.
7. Default Shipping Method
Set the default shipping method that you want to use.
8. Shipping Charge Type
The default is “Fixed Price“. The alternative is “Price Tiers“. Choosing pricing tiers expands additional fields so that you can configure the tiers accordingly.
9. Shipping Price
The fixed price for shipping.
10. Shipping Rates Calculation
Should the shipping rate below be appended to shipping or override shipping completely?
11. Shipping Rates
Specify your shipping rates by shipping method, country and/or state to override any fixed or tiered shipping price for the shipping method. If the user chooses this country or country/state combination on the shipping step of checkout they will pay this shipping rate.
1. Tiers Type
There are three Tier types based on: Quantity/Units, Order Total and Total Weight. The Default is Based on Order Total. This affects how the shipping tiers are calculated. Quantity/Units: This means that shipping tiers will be calculated based on the amount of items that are in the cart at the time of checkout Order Total: This will calculate the shipping price based on the total price value of all the items in the cart at the time of checkout. Total Weight: This will calculate the shipping price based on the total weight of all the items in the cart at the time of checkout.
2. Shipping Tiers
This allows you to select the default shipping method for immediate calculation. Use the radio buttons next to the shipping methods to choose a default shipping method. If no shipping methods have been created you will see a message in red “No shipping methods are available.” Go and add one to continue. For each shipping method you have available you have created that does not use an API you will see it listed here. This is along with 2 field for the tier restrictions as well as a field to set the price for each shipping method within the tier restriction. See the above screenshot for example. I have based the tier calculation on the order total in the cart at the time of checkout. $1 to $100 will add this specified fee to the order total. $101 to $250 will add this specified to the order total. etc Note that the unit specified in the last field o the last tier is ignored and automatically set to infinite count. As in X or more…
