Some products require quotation

Most products in the shop I'm creating are fixed price with options. There are several products though which require a quotation - they're sold with installation service and are individually made to fit.

Any suggestions how to handle these products? Ideally, I'd like to put a "Request Quote" button in their description, and hide the "add to cart" button.

    My suggestion to this is to create a product with "buy now" checkout type. You can add a price to the product or set the price to zero. If you need additional fields to be filled in by the user in order to give the quotation you can add custom fields on the product. Change the button text to "Request Quote", use manual payment method for zero orders, it won't ask the client to make payment. This request will then be send to you and you can send the user a quotation.
