[Solved] Any way to turn off redirect on double sign-up?

edited January 2013 in Newsletter plugin
I have a very simple box (just email) so if they happen to put their email in twice, currently it tells them they did and then sends them to a management page. It would be better in this particular case to just not tell them anything or send them anywhere. Any way to do that?

    Hi,

You could try this under Newsletters > Configuration > Subscribers > Subscription Behavior:

    http://screencast.com/t/sOJw7cBT6 or http://screencast.com/t/pODS2opl

Please let us know if this helped, will you?

    Best regards,

    Phil

Thanks, it looks like "do nothing" is a great choice, but after checking it, I still get redirected to my Management page.

    Hi Dave,

My apologies, it seems the Management Page is a default setting if "Do nothing" is selected. Basically, it should do something - it can't just sit there leaving the subscriber guessing.

You could conceivably create a nice page telling the subscriber that he's already subscribed with that email address, but how happy and impressed you are to see that he's eager to subscribe again! Offer him a choice of handy links on your site or something to that effect - something like a well-designed error page.

Then you would obviously enter the URL of that page as the Custom Redirect URL with this option: http://screencast.com/t/pODS2opl

Do you think that could work for you Dave?

    Best regards,

    Phil

Actually the Do Nothing seems to work okay. I double-subscribe, the widget thinks about it for a second, then I have custom text "You're all set. Thanks!" show up in the widget, then it refreshes to the page they're already on.

Glad to hear that Dave! Well done :-)
