Thumbnails don't advance with slideshow

I'm using the slideshow plugin here:
http://mmje.wpalchemists-dev.com/alder-house/
(site is still in development)

When you advance through the slides, the thumbnails don't advance - they just stay on the first batch of thumbnails.  Should the thumbnails advance along with the slides, or is this just how the plugin behaves?

I'm afraid that's not a feature of the plugin at this stage. Is it an urgent feature you would like to see in the plugin?

It's not urgent enough to make me not use the plugin, but it's definitely a problem as far as I'm concerned.  I've never seen a slideshow where the thumbnails don't advance with the images - it's just expected behavior.
