Button styling

Hiya,

I'd like to adjust the button colors and have exerimented a bit.

This css should work imho, but why doesn't it?

.wpml input.ui-button, .wpml a.ui-button, .wpml a:hover.ui-button {background: linear-gradient(#464646, #dfdfdf);}

Any advice is appreciated.
